When Life Gets Loud, What’s Left for Your Marriage?
Life can get busy before we even realize it.
Work needs something. Family needs something. The house needs something. There are appointments, bills, errands, responsibilities, and all the everyday things that come with being grown.
By the time you finally sit down, sometimes there just isn’t much energy left.
That doesn’t automatically mean something is wrong with your marriage. Life has seasons, and some of them require more from us than others.
But it is worth noticing when your relationship consistently starts receiving whatever is left over.
Sometimes the person closest to us becomes the person we assume will understand when we’re tired, distracted, or stretched thin. Most of the time, they probably do.
But understanding doesn’t mean we stop checking in.
Sometimes connection is as simple as saying:
“I know we’ve both had a lot going on lately. How are you?”
It doesn’t have to be a date night, a weekend away, or a long conversation.
It can be ten quiet minutes.
A conversation in the car.
Putting the phone down.
Sitting together before bed.
Or simply saying, “We’ve been running lately. Let’s make sure we’re not missing each other.”
So this week, ask yourself:
What is getting most of my energy right now?
This isn’t about guilt. It’s about awareness.
Marriage is lived in real life, and real life gets busy. But even in a busy season, we can still remind the person we married that they are more than another responsibility on the list.
They are our partner in the life we are working so hard to manage.
